Welcome all archtop lovers. Today I am hesitatantly putting up a 1942 Epiphone Triumph. This is a rare blonde New York made war era Epiphone. These guitars are basically akin to the Gibson L-7 of that time period. The specs on this are as follows: Serial # 18993 Green New York label, 17 3/8 Width Lower Bout, 25 1/2 scale length, 1 11/16 Nut width with an Amber Blond finish and nitrocellulose lacquer type. Solid handcarved spruce top; solid flame back and sides; five-piece cherry/walnut neck; Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl inlay; ornate "fleur de lis" style mother-of-pearl peghead inlay and diamond fingerboard inlays, bound body, fingerboard and headstock. Original nickel plated Epiphone 16X1 epsilon logo tuners; original nickel plated Frequensator tailpiece; original compensated Brazilian rosewood bridge. Here is what I added: An Epiphone Triumph 5-ply black tortoise replica pickguard, a Kent Armstrong Handmade 2-D Micro Humbucker, Control kit for pickup with Tone and Volume Knob secured to the Pickguard, and last a Strap pin placed under where the neck meets the body. I should mention that with second thought I would have had the Epiphone symbol on the pickguard left off since it was not added until a couple years later. The flaws of this guitar are all completely seamless well repaired cracks: One on the back just left of the neck about 5 inches long. Another from the top left edge of the back about 2 inches, and one on the left top to the f hole. This guitar is ultimately very structurally sound and I don't ever foresee any problems. There are numerous scuffs and marks on the top natural for a guitar of this age. The frets were checked for a precise leveling when the pickup was installed and now it is completely ready to go. Overall, I have to say the neck and feel of this guitar is one of the most comfortable I have ever played Epiphone or otherwise. The tone is very very clear and for lack of a better word kinda warm and bouncy. As Luck Would Have it, you can check out a strikingly similiar guitar here: http://www.archtop.com/ac_42trbl_609.html selling for approximately 3,500. And if you would like to hear some selections of it in an amateur studio setting you can check it with no effects played through a Fender Blues Deville here: http://www.myspace.com/thejazzharbingers on songs: Unit 7, Black Market, the Sick Doll and While My lady Sleeps. I actually bought a case before I had the pickguard installed thus it is actually a 1/4 to small in depth, So i can either sell it without the case or take the pickguard off and ship it in the case. I will only try this auction once and then consign it at Archtop guitars if it doesn't sell. I suppose Paypal will have to do since nothing else is offered now unless you want to work something out.. Will refund complete amount within 3 days if guitar is not as described. Will give shipping estimate upon end of auction with choice of guitar with or w/o case. Thanks and Happy bidding!! Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
