(This guitar did not sell when first listed in May and is being relisted from that auction. If you think you've seen this listing before, it is the me) This is a classic 1980 Guild D 55 in very, very, very, very good condition. There are a couple of cracks in the fretboard binding (3rd fret bass and 11th fret treble sides) and maybe a little minor ding here and there. The neck is straight, the action is low and fast. Sounds great, vintage Guild dreadnaught tone, somewhere between a Martin and Gibson. (Taylor really wasn't much of a force back when this guitar was built.) Classy fingerboard and headstock appointments, but this one does not have the abalone rosette around the soundhole. That appointment was added sometime in the '90s. Nonetheless, the fretboard and headstock inlays pretty much state 'higher-end guitar' without the over-the-top D45 type inlays. 1 11/16 nut, frets and fretboard in very good condition. The top looks like it may have a couple of long scratches or dents, but those are bear-claw markings in the AAA spruce top. No on-board electronics. Close-ups of these photos may be inspected at http://jimadams.info/Photos/D55.htm I am thinning the herd, pretty starting with the philosophy of A) If I don't play it much, consider selling and B) If it is replaceable, consider selling. If the fire comes my keeper dreadnaught is a hand-made guitar by Carlo Greco, foreman of the Guild factory in the 1970's, and it cannot be replaced. It is also the one I play the most. Westerly D 55's in prime condition are not common, but they are not exactly rare either, so if I ever want another D 55 I could probably find one. Shipping to continental United States only. Flat rate of $75 will be adjusted based on your zip code, the winning bidder should wait for the invoice before paying. It is generally around $50 for the mid-West area. The guitar is available for inspection and local pickup at the Falls Road Running Store in Baltimore, and is also subject to prior local sale. ************************************************** Note on the recent negative feedback, my first. That guitar was a 40 year old Brazilian rosewood player that needed work. The buyer decided he wanted me to pay for some of the repairs and demanded a partial refund. I told him he to send it back for a full refund. He filed a claim with Paypal, who froze the funds. The Paypal ruling was that he could ship it back to me for a full refund. If you are not satisfied with this guitar out of the box, there is a 7 day return policy. That means you have a couple days to inspect the instrument, and if you are not satisfied, then I expect it to be 1) notifed immediately of the issue, and then 2) that the guitar be re-packed and shipped and enroute to me within 7 days. I am easy to work with and want to communicate so that both sides are satisfied with the outcome of an auction.
